On October 19th, 2016, Can Tho University (CTU) received and worked with the delegation of the Embassy of Japan to survey and update information on the implementation of Technical Collaboration project and Can Tho University Improvement project.
 

At the meeting, Mr. Katsuro Nagai, Envoy of Japanese Embassy expressed his honor to visit CTU, a key 50-year university in the center of the Mekong Delta region in Viet Nam. He also shared some information about the good cooperative relationship between Viet Nam and Japan. On that basis, he would like to receive the contributing opinions of CTU sides for further strengthening relations between the two countries and the development of CTU and Japanese partners in the coming time.

At CTU side, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector was delighted to share the hallmark of cooperative activities between CTU and Japanese partners. In recent years, CTU has collaborated with a lot of Japanese universities to invest in infrastructures, equipments for teaching, research to improve the quality of human resources and quality of training. Especially, in 2015, CTU has signed with the Government of Japan to implement Technical Collaboration Project and Can Tho University Improvement Project.
 

Accordingly, Technical Collaboration Project with the goal of "strengthening the capacity for CTU to become excellent institution for training, scientific research and technology transfer", has been implemented from March 2016. The objective of this project was also to support the project "Can Tho University Improvement" aiming at strengthening CTU to become internationally recognized university in education, scientific research and technology transfer in three key areas: agriculture, aquaculture, environment, to contribute to the development of the Mekong Delta region and the country.
 

The success of the projects will be great significance for the development of CTU in particular and the Mekong Delta region in general, therefore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan desired Japanese Embassy would be a positive factor in supporting and promoting good relationships between CTU and Japanese partners in the future.
