Can Tho, May 26, 2023 - Can Tho University (CTU) has officially sent representatives to participate in the promising international project Bridging Digital Divide in Mongolia and Vietnam through HEI’s Digital Transformation (DIGITAL MOVE). The kick-off meeting event was successfully held from May 22 to 26, 2023 at CITI University, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, marking an important beginning for cooperation between leading universities from Vietnam, Mongolia, France, and Slovakia.
The DIGITAL-MOVE project, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, aims to support higher education institutions in Mongolia and Vietnam in implementing a comprehensive and effective digital transformation process. The project’s core objective is to integrate digital technology solutions across key components of the higher education ecosystem, including institutional management, teaching and learning, scientific research, and student support services.
Can Tho University has demonstrated strong interest and commitment to the project by appointing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung, Vice Rector, and Dr. Le Van Lam, Head of the Department of International Relations, as key members of the project team. Through their involvement, Can Tho University contributes institutional knowledge, professional experience, and academic expertise to the overall implementation and success of DIGITAL-MOVE. Their participation not only reinforces the university’s engagement in international higher education cooperation but also facilitates meaningful exchange and learning on digital transformation practices with leading partner institutions.

Together with partner universities from Vietnam, Mongolia, France, and Slovakia, Can Tho University will participate in all six Work Packages (WPs) defined under the project framework. This involvement reflects the university’s proactive engagement and institutional responsibility in contributing to all project components, including research activities, the development of conceptual and operational frameworks, the design of digital tools and platforms, the implementation of capacity-building programmes, and the evaluation of digital transformation outcomes.
The DIGITAL-MOVE project aims for the following specific results:
- Enhancing capacity in digital transformation: The project is expected to provide training and capacity-building activities for approximately 400 students, 100 lecturers, 100 administrative staff, and 30 institutional managers, focusing on skills and knowledge related to digital transformation.
- Developing digital learning materials and teaching methodologies: The project will develop 10 digital transformation modules for undergraduate students and 6 modules for postgraduate learners. In addition, digital transformation guidelines and materials on teaching and learning methodologies in digital environments will be produced.
- Organising digital events: Two national digital events will be organised in Vietnam and Mongolia to facilitate experience sharing and promote cooperation in digital transformation in higher education.
- Policy reporting: A policy report on digital transformation will be published in both Vietnamese and Mongolian, providing evidence-based recommendations for policymakers and higher education institutions.
Participation in the DIGITAL MOVE project provides Can Tho University’s faculty members and students with access to international expertise, resources, and practices in digital transformation, while also contributing to strengthening the university’s position and visibility within regional and global higher education networks. This engagement represents an important step in Can Tho University’s development strategy, supporting the advancement towards a modern and dynamic educational environment that responds more effectively to societal needs in the context of the ongoing Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The university believes that, through the active and responsible engagement of its members, Can Tho University will make meaningful contributions to the overall success of the DIGITAL MOVE project, supporting efforts to bridge the digital divide between Vietnam and Mongolia and delivering tangible benefits to the higher education community and society.
