On May 12th, 2017, the delegation of UK universities and PhilRice paid a visit to Can Tho University (CTU). Welcoming and working with the delegates were Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Vice Rector and leader representatives of CTU’s units.

The delegation of eight professors from the universities of Auckland, York, DunDee, James Hutton Research Institute, and two scientists from Philippines Rice Research Institute has spent three days from May 10th to 12th visiting research organizations, and learning models of rice production and biofuel production from biomass in Vietnam.
 

At the meeting, besides learning about the overall information and activities of the University, the professors and scientists have studied and discussed the issues that the Mekong Delta is facing, i.e., climate change, saline intrusion, sea level rise, and their impacts on the fields of agriculture, aquaculture and environment. The meeting also created chances for the two sides to discuss and seek for future cooperation in training and research.
