On November 25th, 2019, Can Tho University (CTU) held a ceremony for signing MoU with Naruto University of Education, Japan. Attending the ceremony were Prof. Yamashita Kazuo, President of Naruto University of Education and representative of Department of Student Assistances, and lecturer. On CTU's side were Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector and leaders of School of Foreign Languages, and Department of International Relations.

At the ceremony, Prof.Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, CTU's Rector, sent a warm welcome to the delegation of Naruto University of Education and shared information about CTU, especially the good cooperative relationship between CTU and its Japanese partners. The Rector also mentioned the "CTU Improvement Project" using ODA loans from the Japanese Government to strengthen CTU to become an excellent higher education institution, internationally recognized in training, scientific research, technology transfer and governance. The project has been contributing to promoting the cooperation between CTU and Japanese partners.

According to Prof. Yamashita Kazuo, Rector of Naruto University of Education, the University was established in 1981 with the aim of enhancing teacher training, especially for in-service teachers, advancing research on education, and enhancing social contribution related to education. Naruto University of Education is the newest university as a national teacher training university. It is a small university with 130 teachers, 100 administrative staff, and 1,000 students. Focusing on global education, the University has accepted more than 1,000 international students and trainers from 64 countries around the world.

At the ceremony, Prof.Dr. Ha Thanh Toan and Prof. Yamashita Kazuo has signed the MoU with the main cooperative activities of exchange of information and materials for education and research, exchange of students, faculty and staff. Expressing his joyfulness at the MoU signing between the two universities, Prof. Yamashita Kazuo believed that the signed MoU has created a favorable condition for the two sides together to build and proceed successful cooperation, contributing to the development of both sides, as well as to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
