On November 28th, 2016, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of Can Tho University (CTU) and representatives of College of Agriculture and Applied Biology, College of Aquaculture and Fisheries,  Biotechnology Research and Development Institute, and Department of International Relations had a meeting with Prof. Peter J. Coloe, Vice Chancellor of RMIT University, Australia.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of CTU shared developing cooperative activities between CTU, the localities of the  Mekong Delta region with the partners in Australia. Accordingly, CTU has more than 200 staff members who are alumni graduated from Australian universities and currently about 15 PhD students studying in this country. In recent years, in Mekong 1000 Program, the localities of the Mekong Delta region have sent a lot of candidates to Australia for master’s and doctoral training programs. The Rector desired that the cooperation in the past years would be a solid foundation for strengthening of cooperation in training activities, exchanges of students and faculties, exchanges of culture, and research collaboration, etc between CTU and RMIT University.

At RMIT University side, Prof. Peter J. Coloe, Vice Chancellor shared that RMIT University was seeking opportunities for collaboration to develop long-term friendship with CTU. Can Tho University would be the destination of Australian students in the program "New Colombia", a program supported by the Australian Government for students to be exchanged with other universities’ ones in the world. In addition, he also believed that in the near future, many exchange programs of students between CTU and RMIT would be promoted.
