On December 12th, 2016, Can Tho University (CTU) in collaboration with Kanazawa University, Japan held Symposium on Environment, Aquaculture and Fisheries. Attending the symposium were leader representatives of the two universities, professors, researchers in the fields of environment and aquaculture, faculties and students.

As a turning point for cooperation relations on the rise as well as the first cooperative activity since the two universities signed a memorandum of understanding in October 2015 at Kanazawa University, the joint symposium aims to create opportunities for staff and students of the two sides to exchange information, experiences and research results in the fields of environment and aquaculture. At the symposium, there were 03 presentations by Kanazawa’s professors and 06 presentations by CTU’s researchers, through the symposium, the participants could propose research orientation and seek for joint research opportunities in the future.
Established in 1862, Kanazawa is nowadays one of the leading universities of Japan with 16 schools, 5 graduate schools, and research institutes, with a number of 2,800 staff members and more than 10,000 students. To reach the goal of the MOU signing, the leaders of the two universities spent considerable time and efforts for meetings and discussions, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Viet Dung, Vice Rector of CTU believes that the relationship between the two universities will be increasingly close and there are specific collaborative activities to be implemented in the future.
