On December 16th, 2016, Can Tho University (CTU) warmly welcomed and worked with the delegation of National Pingtung University (NPTU), Taiwan led by Prof. Dr. Mike Y. K. Guu, Rector of NPTU. At CTU’s side was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Viet Dung, Vice Rector and leader representatives of CTU’s units.

In 2014, NPTU was merged from the former National Pingtung University of Education and National Pingtung Institute of Commerce. NPTU focuses on training and research besides promoting cooperation with universities and industries. The University has enrolled about 9,000 students and possesses 330 staff members, including 87% of faculties with doctorates.
In order to expand and promote cooperative relations in education and strengthen linkages with partner universities in Taiwan, CTU and NPTU signed memorandum of understanding on July 18th, on the occasion of the journey of CTU’s delegation to Taiwan in July 2016. Accordingly, CTU and NPTU agreed to try their best to achieve the following objectives: Promoting exchange of staff, students, essays, publications, theses, and information; conducting joint research project; and promoting dual degree program.

The 16th of December 2016 marked the first visit of NPTU to CTU since the two universities signed the memorandum of understanding. At the meeting, the two sides discussed in detail the oriented activities in the future, particularly staff and student exchanges, collaboration with enterprises and dual degree program. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of CTU believed that the efforts and determination of the two universities would be a solid foundation for the good relationships and specific cooperation activities to be carried out in the near future.
