On March 14th, 2017, Can Tho University (CTU) was honored to welcome H.E.Mm. Ping Kitnikone, Ambassador of Canada to Vietnam. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Viet Dung, Vice Rector of CTU together with leader representatives of CTU’s units and students received the delegates. This is the first visit of Ms. Ping Kitnikone as Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam to leaders, staff and students of CTU.

Representing CTU, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Viet Dung, Vice Rector sent a warm welcome to the Ambassador; at the same time, informed some important activities of CTU in recent years, especially emphasized the cooperation ones between CTU and its partners from Canada.
 

In a cordial atmosphere, Ms. Ping Kitnikone expressed her thanks for the warm welcome of CTU, and expressed her wish to visit CTU, a training center of the Mekong Delta, a university with a long history and experiences in education and providing human resources for the region. The meeting offered an opportunity for the two sides to discuss and share their concerns about the issues that the Mekong Delta facing at the present like climate change.

Established more than 40 years ago, the bilateral relationship between Canada and Vietnam has developed comprehensively in many aspects, not only in international cooperation, international trade, but education and cultural exchanges. The Ambassador highly appreciated the achievements that CTU has gained and affirmed that in the coming time, with the role as the new ambassador of Canada in Vietnam, she will play an important role in developing relationships and being a bridge for the enhancement of effective cooperation between the two countries’ partners in the coming time.
 

On this occasion, with the dynamism, confidence and fluency in English, CTU students enjoyed the opportunity to meet and exchange with the Ambassador about the issues that they concern. They freely shared the interests for Canada,  and the desire of experiencing Canadian country and education.
